Aventurine

 Aventurin
An Aventurine is a mineral which enjoys particular popularity in jewellery production. This stone can be the highlight in chains, rings or even in earrings, it captivates because of its strong green color, which can even go into reddish brown. These stones are opaque and have a greasy or glassy shine. Aventurines are a variety of quartz and get their characteristic glitter and sparkle from hematite, mica or fuchsite particles enclosed in the stone. This special glitter was even named after the popular gemstone as Aventureszenz. Aventurines are traditionally assigned to the minerals, but a clear categorization is not possible, because it can also be counted among the stones. The name Aventurine comes from Italian, where "a ventura" can be roughly translated as coincidental. In the 18th century, a reddish-brown glass was created by chance in Italy, which gave the later discovered Aventurine jewelry stone its name thanks to its optical similarity. Aventurines are found in Germany near Aschaffenburg, but are mainly found in the Urals. In addition to their use in jewellery, Aventurines can also be used in art objects (e.g. vases, cans).
