In the field of jewellery, the term diamond-cut describes a special surface treatment in which fine facets or patterns are milled into the metal. This creates a special shine that makes jewellery such as rings, necklaces or bracelets look particularly elegant. Diamondisation is carried out with rotating diamond tools - the so-called diamond cutter is often used for this. It creates tiny facets that reflect the light and create the typical sparkling effect. A diamond-cutted surface can also enhance the sparkle of jewellery with gemstones, as the reflective surfaces make the stone appear larger and more brilliant. The technique is therefore often used with smaller stones to emphasise their radiance. Over time, however, the shine of diamond-cut jewellery can wear off as the fine milling is slightly smoothed by wear and friction. Re-diamond-cutting is technically possible, but difficult as the cutter rarely repeats the original cut exactly.
