Gold Jewellery

Gold Jewellery is made of the most famous and popular material in the world. Gold has been used by people for thousands of years for the production of decorative ornaments, as this material combines both optical appeal and material value. The rarity of gold makes its value and the gold's own brilliance makes it attractive. Jewellery made of this material is available in all conceivable variations: Rings, necklaces, earrings or bracelets are made of this material and watches, cufflinks or anklets can also be made of this high-quality raw material. Gold jewellery can never rust or tarnish, i.e. become darker and discolour. Since gold in its purest form is very soft, it is easier to process in gold alloys. The proportion of pure gold in this compound is given in carats or per mille. 999 parts per thousand by weight of pure gold in an alloy has 24 carat and is known in trade as fine gold 999. However, lower gold contents are more common in jewellery production, e.g. 18 carat or 14 carat gold with 585 per mil fine gold. 9 carat gold is also extremely popular for gold jewellery. With these alloys copper, nickel and other metals are mixed with the gold, so that the material is harder and the colour of the gold can be varied.
