Winding Stem

Watches are extremely complex pieces of jewellery made up of a large number of tiny parts in order to create an instrument for measuring time that is as precise as possible. In this concert of watch components, the winding stem is one of the most important elements because it allows the owner of the watch to directly access its function, while all other components in the watch case are concealed from access. The winding shaft is used to adjust the hands of an analogue watch. The winding stem is a steel shaft that has certain projections inside the watch and ends with a square. The crown is placed on this square shape at the end of the winding shaft, the wheel for moving this shaft and thus for adjusting the time. The shaft of the winding mechanism functions by means of a pin and a lug, by means of which the shaft is supported in the plates. The importance of the winding shaft for the entire watch is obvious: It is the only way for the user of a watch to correct or set the time.
