Wedding Rings
Wedding Rings - Wedding rings are the symbol of an institution, namely the common life of man and woman as a couple. The wedding ring was already known in ancient times as a symbol for marriage and was worn by Romans and Egyptians on the ring finger of their left hand. The reason for this was that this side was regarded as the side of the heart on which the vein of love also runs. Nowadays in many countries, also in Germany, it has become established to wear the wedding rings on the ring finger of the right hand. The wedding ring became a real symbol by Pope Nicholas I., who established the meaning of the ring around 850 as a symbol for the loyalty and durability of the wedding ceremony. No sign expresses the metaphor of infinity as clearly as the ring and so love should have no end. Modern wedding rings are provided with an engraving on the inside of the rings. The name of the partner and the date of the wedding day are usually recorded in the piece of jewellery. Wedding rings are pieces of jewellery that should be worn for a lifetime if possible and are therefore always made of high-quality materials. High-quality gold alloys (8ct, 14ct, 18ct) and sterling silver are the most commonly used, but also unusual materials such as ceramics, titanium, tungsten or stainless steel are used.
