The tennis bracelet, despite its name, is not a sporty accessory, but a bracelet with a symmetrical arrangement of the stone setting. This usually consists of diamonds, zirconia or gemstones of the same colour, size and shape. The bracelet can be made of silver as well as gold and stainless steel. A fine chain made of the respective material connects the stones, which are set in a row in a frame or claw setting. The previously named Rivière owes its name to a tennis match in 1987, where the player Chris Evert lost her diamond bracelet and the referee interrupted the match to let her search for it. Since then, the name of the tennis bracelet became established and replaced the term Rivière. This French term (meaning river) refers to the flowing and continuous arrangement of diamonds that completely surround the wrist. The stones are all set individually and are reminiscent of sparkling drops of water. This type of bracelet is also known as an eternity bracelet. A classic feature is the safety clasp or the safety seam. But the spring ring and lobster clasp are also common.
