The Japanese watch manufacturer Citizen exists since 1930 and the brand is full named Citizen Watch Co, Ltd. The name originates from the fact that the watches are made for every citizen and everyone can wear them. The brand slogan is "BETTER STARTS NOW" and the company produces both men's and women's watches. Until 1965, it only launched analogue watches that had to be wound by hand. In the same year, however, it also started producing automatic watches, and in the 1990s it began manufacturing titanium watch cases. The company's milestone was probably the development of a light-powered technology, which it patented under the name Eco-Drive. Here, the energy to power the movement is generated by any possible light source and stored even in the dark. Today, the watches are functional and equipped with the most advanced technologies. Visually, they are classically stylish, clearly structured and discreetly designed. Citizen also produces technically elaborate sports watches that can be worn for various activities. The Radio Controlled series and the watches in the Promaster collection are particularly noteworthy. The company is now one of the largest watch manufacturers in the world.
