Michael Kors founded the fashion company while he was still studying design, which he abandoned in 1981. The designer sold his first own collection in a New York boutique, where he also worked as a sales manager. He was also head designer of the Céline label in the meantime. His individual collections are both practical and modern, which makes the brand so successful. Michael Kors has been designing various accessories, including jewellery, shoes and perfumes since 2001. According to the philosophy of the label, a successful look should not be complete without matching accessories. That is why the jewellery is elegantly designed with sporty accents. The best known are probably the Michael Kors bags, which are still very popular. The founder is also committed to non-profit organisations and charitable causes and, for example, designed a watch collection in 2013 to donate part of the proceeds to the United Nations Food Programme, which provides children with school meals. Michael Kors Holding Limited went public on the New York Stock Exchange at the end of 2011 with its headquarters in the British Virgin Islands. The Jimmy Choo company and Versace are now also part of the group. In 2019, the company was renamed Capri Holdings.
