Sandblasting

When jewellery is sandblasted, it has a particularly matt surface that does not reflect or shine and also only allows light reflections up to a small point. This gives new possibilities in the creation of jewellery, as it can also appeal to the interests of jewellery lovers who prefer to accessorise with inconspicuous, yet high-quality jewellery. Sandblasted metal is roughened during treatment with the sandblasting blower to achieve the classic matt look. In the process, the sandblasting blower uses compressed air to shoot certain abrasives that remove material from the surface of the treated metal. Different materials are used as abrasives for sandblasting, but sand is not used exclusively. Rather, blast furnace slag, corundum, plastic and glass granulate are used. Nutshells and ice crystals are also used in sandblasting to give the material the desired surface finish. Not only metal can be sandblasted to obtain the appropriate material for rings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets, but also glass can be matted with the sandblasting blower and used in jewellery making.
