Jade

 Jade
Jade is a certain gemstone, which is often used in green colour to finish necklaces, rings, brooches or pendants. Jade is not a recognized name for minerals, but it is a synonym for a mineral of the augite group, jadeite. The term jade is particularly popular in jewellery production, because it refers to all gemstones that consist predominantly of jadeite. Also the mixed crystals tremolite, actinolite and above all nephrite are summarized under it. The ancient Chinese already used jade over 8000 years ago as a jewelry and cult stone, to which besides its optical attractions also magical energy was ascribed. Jade found its way into Europe as a gemstone in the 19th century and finally experienced a real hype around 1960-1970; Jade was stylized by the flower power generation to an esoteric stone with magical abilities. But even before the hippies, green and sometimes white gemstones were attributed special properties. Thus life and death were already symbolized with it, it was part of magic rituals and an important factor in body and soul healing. It is safe to say about jade jewellery that something mystical is inherent in it, but that it can also simply be a profane, extremely handsome piece of jewellery.
